Harriett Alice Iverson, 90, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at St. Mark’s Living in Austin, where she resided for nine years.

Harriett was born June 9, 1928, at “Brown Place Farm,” LeRoy Township, Mower County, Minnesota, to Harry and Alida (Engerud) Rudlong. She attended “Hembright” country school in LeRoy Township. On Nov. 9, 1946, Harriett was united in marriage to Kenneth Iverson in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Ken and Harriett resided in the Austin area, where they raised their family of eight. Harriett had various jobs over the years, including the LeRoy Produce Company, as a nurse’s aide at St. Olaf Hospital, Owatonna Canning Company, Libby Canning Company, and loved her role as a homemaker. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Harriett was a hardworking, generous, and frugal woman who did her best to live and promote those values in her family. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Austin. Harriett enjoyed word search, reading, and loved traveling, including several trips out west, one to Norway, and several bus trips. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Harriett’s memory are her children, Kenneth ‘Duane’ (Charlotte) Iverson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Gary (Nancy Jo) Iverson of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Linda (Larry) Wilson of St. Charles, Minnesota, Barbara (Dean) Sheely of Austin, Nancy Dickerson of Owatonna, Minnesota, Debra (Bill) Smith of Plains, Montana, Michael (Sana) Iverson of Jordan, Minnesota, and Thomas (Barbara) Iverson of Austin; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; sisters, Belva (Doug) Heine of Austin, Shirley Foster of Grand Meadow and Myrtle Rudlong of Grand Meadow; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alida Rudlong; her husband, Kenneth Iverson, in 2015; her brothers, Tillman Rudlong and Lester Rudlong; and her brother-in-law, Louis Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Dennis Tamke officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. before the service on Saturday at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will be in Rose Creek Enterprise Cemetery in Austin. As Harriett was a courageous fighter against a stroke that forever changed her life, family prefers memorials to The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
