Joseph Scott Maus, 30, passed away suddenly on July 28, 2018, in Cesis, Latvia, due to a previously unknown heart condition. His brothers were with him at the time of his passing and later, together with the boys’ father, brought Joe home to Austin, Minnesota.
Joe was born Jan. 6, 1988, in Austin, the son of Bob and Sue Maus and brother of John, Kevin and Stephanie.
Joe graduated from Austin High School and Drake University. Joe lived for many years in Minneapolis and worked most recently for Aon Insurance. In 2016, he joined his brother John’s band and toured the U.S. and the abroad as business manager and bassist. He fell in love with, and is survived by, Pilar González-Tartière of Oviedo, Spain.
Joe will be remembered as a loving and joy-filled young man. He was fiercely loyal to his friends and family and was a kind, loving and exuberant citizen of the world. He was an avid sports fan and followed all of his favorite Minnesota teams, especially the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at St. Edwards Catholic Church. The family will greet mourners beginning at 9:30 a.m. before the service inside the main entrance of the church. Memorials are preferred to the MacPhail Center for Music in Austin.
