If you’re just starting your junior year in high school, whether it be at a public, private, or homeschool, there’s an amazing opportunity to come spend a week at the State Capitol as a page.

The High School Page Program is designed to allow students to explore the issues that matter most to them, develop leadership skills, and to inspire them to think critically about the issues confronting our state.

Modeled after the U.S. Congress Page Program, the Minnesota High School Page Program has given students the opportunity to work at the Capitol for a week and see their government in action. Throughout the course of their week in St. Paul, High School Page Program participants are exposed to a wide variety of experiences designed to provide them with a deep understanding of our state government. Those include individual meetings with legislators, assisting members during the legislative session and participating in mock committee sessions.

Program participants will also have the ability to meet with constitutional officers, members of the judiciary, lobbyists, members of the media and other students from across the state.

To apply, a prospective student will need to fill out an application, provide a short 500-word essay on why they want to participate, and submit a letter of recommendation by Nov. 28, 2018. Students who are selected will be given a stipend to cover lodging.
