After fighting back to win two games, the Hayfield volleyball was edged out by Byron (7-6 overall) in five games by scores of 25-21, 25-9, 18-25, 27-29, 19-17 in Hayfield Tuesday.
Jenna Jacobsen had 11 kills and 17 digs for the Vikings (4-8 overall) and Cela Carney added 31 digs.
“It looked pretty dismal after losing the first two games,” Hayfield head coach Jeremy Struck said. “Game two was simply ugly. I asked the girls if they have any fight left. They didn’t disappoint, storming back to force a game four and game five. It was a gut wrenching loss, but one we can feel good about at the end of the night.”
