Hone your defensive driving skills Wednesday
Published 10:49 am Saturday, September 1, 2018
On Wednesday at 9 a.m. the Mower County Senior Center is hosting our next defensive driving class.
This is a four-hour refresher class to get a discount on your car insurance. If you have taken the initial eight-hour class three years ago, it is time to take the refresher course. To sign up, stop by or call the senior center front desk at 1-507-433-2370.
Volunteering
October is going to be Mower County Volunteer for Senior’s Month.
We are recruiting volunteers that are interested in helping a senior. We all understand as we age there are things that aren’t as easy for us or at a certain point we just can’t do any more. During the month of September we are looking for individuals or groups of people that want to lend a helping hand to a senior.
We are looking at projects that are outside that take a max of four hours to complete. The senior would be responsible to supply the items necessary to do the project and we will match them up with a volunteer or a group of volunteers to get their project completed.
If you are an individual or you have a group of people that would like to spend a little time helping out a senior in the community, please give Mary Allen with the Chore program a call at 1-507-481-3333.
Think about a date in October you will be available to do the project when you sign up. If you are a senior and have a project, Mary can get you signed up for that as well. Thanks for helping the senior’s living in our community.
Don’t forget our coffee shop, where every day you can have homemade soup for $1 and sandwich for 50 cents. Tuesday we are having scalloped potatoes and ham in the coffee shop for only $2.
