JoAnn Lucille Haney, 81, a long-time resident of Fairfax, Oklahoma, passed away after a short illness on Sept. 11, 2018, at Fairfax Manor Nursing Home.
JoAnn was born on June 11, 1937, in Austin, Minnesota, to Howard and Margaret Leachman Greenlee. After graduating Austin High School in 1955, JoAnn married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Haney. The couple farmed in the Elkton, Minnesota, area for many years. In 1985, they moved to Fairfax, where JoAnn acquired her LPN License, of which she was extremely proud, and worked at the Fairfax Hospital until retirement.
JoAnn was a wonderful cook, especially during the holidays. She liked to sew for her family and loved to tend to her beautiful rose bushes. In the last few years, during hunting season, JoAnn’s favorite activity was to tag along with Arnold, sit with him and wait for that big buck to come around the corner.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Arnold; five children, Gary (Dawn) Haney of Fairfax, Debra Haney Carr of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Larry (Diana) Haney of Big Lake, Minnesota, Scott (Jamie) Haney of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Darwin (Marilyn) Haney of Ponca City; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers, Maynard Greenlee, Ronald Greenlee, Howard Greenlee Jr. and Robert Greenlee; and two sisters, Marcella Waller and Beverly Hungerford.
A private family memorial ceremony has been held. Arrangements were under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home and Crematory in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, any contributions can be made to ONHL Medical Home Health and Hospice Services, 245 N. Main St., Fairfax, OK 74637.
