Lawrence E. (Larry) Maus, 77, died Sept. 12, 2018, at Good Samaritan Comforcare in Austin, Minnesota.

Larry was born Aug. 2, 1941, the son of Elbert and Victoria Maus. Lawrence married his high school sweetheart on Dec. 6, 1991.

He graduated from Austin High School, Riverland Community College, the University of Illinois and University of Illinois Law School. He began work for the Baudler Law firm following graduation and began his practice in Spring Valley, Minnesota. He returned to Austin as a litigation attorney for the firm, where he worked until his death.

Larry was an avid Gopher wrestling fan and traveled with friends to many national and state tournaments. Larry was also a fixture at many Austin High School sporting events. Larry was inducted into the AHS Hall of Fame in 1991.

Larry was injured in a car accident when he was a senior in high school. He spent his adult life in a wheelchair and never complained or felt sorry for himself. Larry loved life and was interested in each person he met. He found great strength in his faith and was a proud member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was passionate about his family and his work.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jeanne; stepchildren, Lisa (Chuck) Mattox, Stephen (Karrie) Allio and Michael Allio; his brothers, Anthony (Rachel) Maus, Terry (Mary) Maus and Robert (Sue) Maus; nine grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Joseph Maus; and niece, Elizabeth Maus.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. A private family burial will be held. A celebration of life will be held at the Historic Hormel Home following the service.

Memorials may be designated to St. Augustine Catholic Church or Saint Marys Hospital Wound Clinic.
