Man gets drug charges after police raid residence

Daniel Thomas Wear, 57, of Austin was charged on Thursday in Mower County District Court with felony fifth-degree drug possession and petty misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, Austin police officers and Mower County deputies executed a search warrant at 1:11 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1000 block of Fifth Street Northwest. Wear was arrested in the garage
Police found 1.7 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine in the garage, Krueger said. They also found a scale and a pipe. Wear also had several hundred dollars on his person.
A review of Wear’s criminal record shows prior convictions for drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property and arson.
Wear will appear in court again on Oct. 12.
