Moo Kpaw, 23, of Austin was charged on Friday in Mower County District Court with felony third-degree burglary and misdemeanor theft-take/use/transfer movable property without consent.
According to the court complaint, local law enforcement responded to a call at 3:22 p.m. on Thursday from a woman who said a man was in her garage in the 3600 block of West Oakland Avenue. Upon arrival, a Mower County deputy made contact with Kpaw, who said he had entered the garage and was “doing his thing.”
The complaint states Kpaw admitted to entering a cinderblock barn on the property and drinking alcohol he found inside. He was arrested and several keys were found on his person. When asked about the keys, Kpaw said he took them from the cinderblock barn.
A review of Kpaw’s criminal record shows prior convictions for abandoning a motor vehicle on public/private property without consent, tampering with a motor vehicle without owner consent, possession of drug paraphernalia and assault.
Kpaw will appear in court again on Oct. 4.
