The Mower County Sheriff’s Department has added its newest deputy.
In a swearing-in ceremony Friday morning at the Law Enforcement Center, Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, with family present, swore in LeRoy native John Wade, 25.
Wade becomes the 23rd deputy on the force.
“I just want to do my duties I swore to do,” Wade said after receiving his star from from his wife Brittany Wade. “Keep things safe the best I can.”
Wade’s road to law enforcement started in 2015 when he enrolled at Riverland Community College for law enforcement. In 2017, he began working at the Mower County Jail.
A ride along with a deputy sealed the deal for Wade.
“This is what I wanted to do,” he remembered.
In June of this year, Amazi officially offered Wade the job.
