The Austin Bruins completed a weekend sweep over the Chippewa Steel (3-12-1-1 overall) when they won 5-0 in Riverside Arena Saturday.
Kyle McClellan picked up his third shutout of the year for Austin (10-1-0-3 overall) when he stopped 18 shots.
Austin’s Dante Zapata was also named Central Division Star of the Week as he had a goal and five assists over the week.
Zapata is second in team scoring with 12 points in 13 games played.
“This is Dante’s third season as a Bruin and he’s paid his dues. He plays the game the right way and we use him in all situations,” Austin head coach Steve Howard said. “We are hoping that a NCAA Division I program will see that potential and the fact that he can fit anywhere in their line up next season.”
