Further delay on Brownsdale assisted living center’s opening date; Now expected for Nov. 1

A few more hurdles have further delayed the opening of Brownsdale’s new assisted living center until next month.
Legacy of Brownsdale, the highly anticipated assisted living center being built at the former elementary school site, had been projected to open in October but was delayed because of inclement weather, according to a previous story.
Diedra Burke, owner and property manager of Legacy of Brownsdale, stated the licensing process of the facility had delayed the anticipated October opening, and she now eyes a Nov. 1 opening date.
“Our licensing took a little longer than previously expected,” Burke said in a Facebook message. “We are within days of completing construction.”
Legacy of Brownsdale is an estimated 45,000 square-foot facility with 33 assisted living units, and some have the capacity to house two residents.
Most units are able to accommodate single-residency, which are limited to couples and possible friends.
It was reported that between 30 to 45 staff members were expected to be employed in both full-time and part-time positions. The center is located in the former Brownsdale Elementary School building that was closed in June 2016, and parts of the old building were incorporated into portions of the new assisted living center designs.
