Logan Robert Branstad, 19, of Austin was arrested Monday evening after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting three of the residents.
According to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger, police were called at 7:04 p.m. to a residence in the 700 block of 11th Avenue Southwest in Austin. The alleged victim, a 20-year-old Austin male, said Branstad pulled up in front of the residence and began to chase him. The victim ran into the residence and Branstad followed, pushing a 23-year-old female who tried to stop him.
Krueger said Branstad broke down the door, entered the residence and allegedly punched a 21-year-old female in the arm, causing a bruise. The victim said he tried to lock himself in a bathroom, but Branstad got in, injuring the victim’s hand in the process. The victim alleged Branstad punched him several times before leaving the residence in a red Saturn.
The victim told police he and Branstad used to be friends. Police later located the vehicle at a residence in the 1900 block of 22nd Drive Southwest, Krueger said.
Branstad was arrested and is in Mower County Jail awaiting possible charges of fifth-degree assault, misdemeanor domestic assault, and first-degree burglary.
The investigation is still ongoing.
