The weather may be getting colder, but that doesn’t mean Austin residents will be missing out on activities at Wescott Athletic Complex.

The Austin Dome will soon be up for the fourth straight year and it will once again offer a walking path, recreational activities and a place for high school and college athletic teams to practice. The dome is likely to be put up on Nov. 22 and the process should take about a week. If weather is a factor, the back-up date for putting up the dome will be Dec. 3.

Ben Schuller, who began as Facilities Coordinator for the Austin school district in August, is hoping everything goes well and the dome will be fully operational by early December.

“It’s all dependent on the weather. If everything goes well, it could be available for use in the first week of December,” Schuller said. “This is my first time dealing with the dome. It’ll be a new experience to me and it’ll be a learning experience. I’m really looking forward to how this facility will run.”

Schuller said he has some new ideas that he’s pondering for the dome and the dome will also continue to provide a place for Parks and Recreations Leagues, Austin Youth Leagues, and a site for practice.

The dome will be open on Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
