Sterling Beauty Salon has announced the addition of stylist Ronissia Gondao Bengba with help from the Austin Area Minority Business Project.

Bengba and Sterling Beauty Salon have utilized the free services and expertise of the Austin Area Minority Business Project along with Mark Thein, Small Business Development Center consultant, who is assisting Bengba and Sterling Beauty Salon with marketing assistance and connecting them with resources related to their specific needs.

“Ronissia has been a Joy to work with.  Her happiness, energy level and hair style techniques has given Sterling Beauty Salon a whole new attitude to enhance our existing business,” said Sterling Beauty Salon owner Carol Callahan through a press release. “She has the skill set to work on all different types of hair texture. Her styles are unique to the hair care market in Austin. It’s fantastic to have her working with us.”

In 2011, Bengba came to Austin from the Central African Republic.  She graduated from Riverland Community College cosmetology program in 2016.

“I have held many jobs in Austin since arriving here, but always enjoyed doing hair,” she said. “I am talented, have international experience and enjoy meeting new people. Getting my Minnesota license from Riverland was the right career choice. Now I can add US citizenship to my goals achieved.

“I work on all different types of hair, I encourage people to go to my Facebook site and check out the photos,” she continued. “ I believe there is a segment of the population that is being missed in Austin. I find people traveling over an hour to get their hair done.”
