Gerard Academy received 29 handmade gift packages from Westminster Presbyterian Church of Austin.

Each package included a fleece tie blanket and pillow and a coordinating stuffed animal for the youngest residents, which were made during a recent service project by the church’s members. Rev. Michael Olmsted, Jacky Dietz, Cinde Goskeson, and Lisa Tapp of Westminster personally delivered the packages and were given a tour of the historic mansion.

“It just spoke to my heart to give these blankets to the Gerard children,” Goskeson said.

The group plans to continue donating blankets as more are made by the service members. d “We are so grateful to the members at Westminster Presbyterian Church for their generosity and thinking of our youth at Gerard Academy,” said Gerard Academy Executive Director Karen Wolf. “What they are providing is something of warmth and comfort that the youth can take with them on their journey through life.”
