William F. Angell, 95

William F. Angell, 95, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, died on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, surrounded by his family at Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea.
William Floyd Angell was born on Aug. 18, 1923, in Austin, Minnesota, to Perl and Mildred (Vasey) Angell. Bill graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1941.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Fred T. Berry in post-war Japan and China.
Bill was united in marriage to Ardis Jensen on Dec. 14, 1949, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Newry Township of Freeborn County, near Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. When they retired from farming, they moved to Albert Lea. They wintered in Mesa, Arizona, for 28 years, where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends and playing golf. Bill and Ardis enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. They also visited family in England and Canada and enjoyed touring those countries.
He was a member of the Blooming Prairie American Legion, the Minnesota Crop Improvement Association and Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his four children, Susan (Richard) Rasmussen of West Des Moines, Iowa, Diane (David) Schewe of Hayward, Minnesota, John (Anita) Angell of Blooming Prairie and Karen Angell of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; grandchildren, Justin (Mary) Rasmussen, Shawn (Danielle Morgulis) Rasmussen, Dawn (Chad) Carlson, Scott Schewe, Sara (David) Kalis, Jennifer (Brian) Green and Craig (Verlinda) Angell; 13 great-grandchildren, William, Ian, Matthew and Nathan Rasmussen, Amber, Brandon, Jacob and Ruth Carlson, Gavin Schewe, David and Samantha Kalis and Alexandra and Lukas Green; sisters, Barbara O’Connor and Elaine (Robert) Schmeling, both of Blooming Prairie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Milan Behr of Elysian, Minnesota, and Robert and Marlys Jensen of Waseca, Minnesota: and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis (2014); his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Lloyd Ellingson; brother, Ralph Angell; brother-in-law, Thomas O’Connor Jr.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carroll and Phyllis Jensen.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the tender loving care Bill received from the staff at Thorne Crest Retirement Community and St. Croix Hospice.
Bill was a much beloved father, brother, grandfather, neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in rural Austin with the Rev. Lindsay Brennan officiating. . Visitation will be from 4–7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery with the Blooming Prairie Service Men’s Club providing Honor Guard services. Memorials are suggested to Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, Thorne Crest Retirement Community or St. Croix Hospice.
