Congratulations are in order for Avery Hinkley.
During the Minnesota Fall Delegation Conference at St. Paul Technical College, SkillsUSA delegates statewide elect their peers to serve as student leaders for the organization.
Positions include: treasurer, parliamentarian, president, secretary, vice president, historian and reporter.
Hinkley was elected as parliamentarian, and also serves as president of Austin High School’s chapter of Minnesota SkillsUSA.
These students serve in a variety of roles throughout their year of service and serve as communicators, advocates and facilitators. The state officer team leads the Minnesota Leadership and Skills Conference in the spring, the Leadership Conference in October and the Fall Delegation in November. They also serve local chapters and teacher members skills from the SkillsUSA Framework, which will help them become career-ready. Additionally, they serve as teammates as they build relationships with others across the state.
For a state officer, the responsibility helps with personal growth and encourages student leadership experience within Minnesota SkillsUSA. The overall program focuses on five essential elements of the SkillsUSA Framework: responsibility, communication, teamwork, leadership and professional development. Skills learned through the state officer program will help these student leaders throughout their lives and future careers.
