Elaine Marilyn Taylor, 83, of Dexter, Minnesota, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Crest View Villa, where she had lived since September 2017.
Elaine Marilyn Kirchner was born May 31, 1935, in Mower County, Minnesota, to Elmer and Thelma (Haarstad) Kirchner. She graduated from Austin High School. She was united in marriage to Dale Taylor on June 26, 1952, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Sargeant, Minnesota. The couple farmed in the Sargeant area for many years.
Elaine enjoyed cooking, knitting, playing cards, especially bridge, bowling, traveling, and spending time at their family cabin in Laporte, Minnesota. Elaine was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sargeant, where she was one of the oldest living members. She was also an acting member of St. John’s Lutheran Church’s ladies aid. Above all else, Elaine enjoyed spending time and laughing with her beloved children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.
Elaine is survived by her son, Steven Taylor (Wendy Filipek) of Burnsville, Minnesota; daughter, Kari (Jerry) Siemers of Dexter; surrogate son, Jeremy (Susan) Claxton of Mazeppa, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Rob (Ruth) Taylor, Jacob (Katelyn) Siemers, Kailee Siemers, Jaimee Siemers, Morgan Hoefs and Carter Claxton; three great-grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Grayden Siemers and Brynn Johnson; one brother, Charles (Phyllis) Kirchner; and one sister, Colleen (John) Kvasnicka. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two infant children; three sisters, Judy Dalager, Carol Schatz and Monica Fiduk; and one niece, Michele Boelter.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 28959 630th Ave., Sargeant, MN, with the Rev. Ronald Prigge officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at the church and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
