Pacelli students advance to Regional Spelling Bee

Pacelli Catholic School announces the two spellers that will be advancing to the Regional Spelling Bee on Monday, Friday, Jan. 11.
Neha Thawani Nanda (grade 8) and Yong Achuoth (grade 6) placed first and second, respectively, in the Pacelli Spelling Bee.
Ten students advanced to the Pacelli Spelling Bee after competing within their grade level classrooms. These students included: 4th Grade – Atem Achuoth and James Schulte; 5th Grade – Kailyn Bissen and Joey Schulte ; 6th Grade – Yong Achuoth and Lexi Kiker; 7th Grade – Dane Schara and Caden Soucek; 8th Grade – Neha Thawani Nanda and Othello Stone.
Two regional spelling bees will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, in Rochester, Minnesota. The top six spellers from each regional competition will advance to the Southeast Minnesota Final Spelling Bee on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
The champion of the Southeast Minnesota Spelling Bee Final will win an expenses-paid trip (including one adult) to compete in the 2018-19 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., held at the end of May 2019. The bee’s purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
