Troy Benjamin Vlasaty, 57, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully following a lengthy battle with cancer on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, in his home surrounded by his wife and children.

Troy was born on March 19, 1961, in Austin, the son of Charles and Jean (Kramer) Vlasaty. Troy graduated from Austin High School in 1979. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed out of Camp Pendleton, where he married Pamela Swaney. They had two children, Nickolas and Joshua. They later divorced. Troy married Joscelyn DeMoss in 2002, and this union brought three children: Adam, Isaac and Alyssa. They made their home in Austin, where Troy worked for Weyerhaeuser and International Paper Company for the last 22 years. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time outside hunting, fishing, boating, summer family vacations, attending his children’s sporting events and BBQs at home for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Joscelyn; children, Adam, Isaac and Alyssa of Austin and Nickolas and Joshua of Faribault, Minnesota; grandchildren, Isaiah Vaith and Nicole Elizabeth; parents, Charles and Jean Vlasaty of Austin; sibling, Todd (Amy) Vlasaty of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Travis (Dawn) Vlasaty of Rochester, Minnesota, and Ty Vlasaty (Karen Platt) of McFarland, Wisconsin; many nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leon and Dorothy Vlasaty and John and Verneel Kramer.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at the Ruby Rupner Auditorium at the Hormel Nature Center in Austin. All of Troy’s family and friends are welcome to attend. Memorial contributions and donations are requested to Troy’s children’s college funds.
