Austin man injured in snowmobile accident

One man was taken to the hospital after being involved in a snowmobile accident on Saturday.

According to Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May, a deputy responded to a call of a snowmobile accident at about 4 p.m. on Saturday in the 16900 block of 675th Avenue in rural Adams. When the deputy arrived, an Adams EMT was already applying first aid to Tim Staver, 34,of rural Austin.

May said Staver had been northbound on his snowmobile on a nearby trail when he hit a snowbank and rolled over.

Staver told first responders he was feeling pain in his back and believed he had broken his arm, May said. Adams Area Ambulance Service transported him to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Staver was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The snowmobile sustained heavy damage and was not drivable.
