February has arrived and made herself very noticeable.

It’s time for our annual Coffee Party and Travel Party.  We have missed you and now invite you and your friends to come and join us from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Mower County Senior Center.

This is also the time when we bring out a schedule of some of the fun trips and outings for 2019.

Mower County Senior Travel has been in existence for many years and we have been to many destinations. Trips  are planned with your interests in mind.

We have two extended trips for this season, which includes Hawaii and Scandinavia. Details for these trips will be included with information at our Coffee Party and Travel Show.

Some of the trips planned for this year may be to the same location and several are first-time visits.

We will be making a trip to Preston and the Veterans Memorial. Another first-time trip is planned to the John Deere Plant in Waterloo, Iowa. Another requested trip is to the Tulip Festival in Pella, Iowa.

Pella is in its 84th year of hosting this event.  The town comes alive with tulips as residents wear Dutch attire to celebrate their heritage. We will be there for the afternoon and will take in the parade as they begin with the washing of the streets. There will be ethnic food, music, quilt shows, great shops and friendly people.

Two Chanhassen Dinner Theatre stage shows are scheduled for this season. “Mama Mia” will be the big show in July along with a Christmas Show later in the season.

The fair in Albert Lea  and a return visit to our Minnesota State Fair will also be on our agenda.  Please come in and pick up a full schedule of these and other trips.

Upcoming Events

•Feb. 22: At 3 p.m. there will be a meeting for those signed up for the March 7 trip to Hawaii at the Mower County Senior Center.  Departure information will be available with details. Our representative for these extended tours will be here. At 4 p.m., you are invited for our July 10 trip to Scandinavia. This trip will include Norway, Denmark and  Sweden. This is open to the public.

•April 10: John Deere Tour

•May 3: Tulip Festival in Pella, Iowa.

•May 30: Veterans Memorial in Preston.
