More chances for youth to Learn to Skate
Published 11:22 am Saturday, February 2, 2019
Do you have a child ages 3 to 10 that wants to learn out to skate?
We are offering another Learn to Skate program from 5:30-6:15 p.m. on March 6, 13, 27 and April 3 at Riverside Arena. This class is for the beginner skater. Participants will learn the basics of skating, however, they will fall down so we recommend that elbow pads and shin pads be worn.
Helmets are required at all times. A parent or guardian 16-years-old and up may accompany a participant at no charge.
If skates are needed you may rent a pair for $1. Helmets are also available to rent. Register online at www.ci.austin.mn.us. The cost is $25 and deadline is March 5.
The 2019 3-on 3- Sweets Cup Competition will be at Riverside Arena and March 12 and 26 and April 2,9,16 and 23.
Youth groups include Mites/10U girls; Squirt/12U girls; Peewee/14U girls and Bantam/16U girls. Each division plays five, one-hour games followed by a one-night skills competition to win the Sweets Cup.
Cost is $40 per player with time set aside between 6-9 p.m. Start times will vary.
Register online at Cityofapr.maxgalaxy.net.
The next session of Learn to Play Hockey is scheduled for April 10,17,24 and May 1.

Jobs
Our mild January we were experiencing was squashed this last week with this winter blast.
However, I still look at it as we were spoiled with a few mild weeks and spring is that much closer.
It is never too early to apply for that summer job so pick up your application or print the seasonal application off our website.
Park and Recreation has many part-time job opportunities for ages high school and up. Are you retired and looking for something to get you outside? We may have something for you.
We will have job openings in park maintenance, municipal pool positions, gardener position and recreation positions. Within the recreation position we will be hiring a summer recreation assistant position. Always check our city web page at ci.austin.mn.us for the employment information.
