Ramona Ruth Meyer, 84, of Austin, Minnesota, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus-Rochester.
Ramona was born Feb. 11, 1934, to Wilmer and Olga (Bartz) Nack of Grafton, Iowa. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1951. In 1953, she graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) Cedar Falls, Iowa, with a two-year elementary teaching degree. She taught fifth grade at Gowrie, Iowa, and Lake Mills Iowa.
On June 19, 1955, she married Alvin Meyer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. She lived her entire married life in Austin, where her husband Alvin worked at The Trowbridge and Red Owl Grocery stores before retiring.
Ramona enjoyed sewing and making quilts; she donated many quilt tops to her church. In the summer, she spent her time in her flower and hosta gardens. She also enjoyed taking care of the flowers around Grace Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Olga Nack; step-mother, Alice Nack; and brothers, William, Robert and Richard Nack.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Alvin Meyer; daughter, Melodie Williamson; son, Michael Meyer, all of Austin; grandsons, Joshua Meyer of Orlando, Florida, and John Meyer of Lexington, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Laurie (Nack) Bublitz of Grafton; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Ziems officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in rural Beckwith Cemetery near Colwell, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran Church in Austin or to the donor’s choice. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
