BLOOMING PRAIRIE — A trip to the state tournament left a pair of Blooming Prairie seniors hungry for more football and they each made their commitment to play at the next level in BP Wednesday.
Seth Peterson, a quarterback who missed BP’s postseason run with an injury, committed to Division III University of Saint Thomas and Tim Wolf, a wide receiver committed to Division III University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Peterson threw for 1,899 yards, 32 TDs and two interceptions in eight games last season and he was on the sideline as he watched the Awesome Blossoms advance all the way to the Minnesota Class A State Football semifinals.
“I wasn’t really planning on playing college football until my season ended and I found out how much I missed it. I love the sport and I want to keep playing,” Peterson said. “I loved the campus (at Saint Thomas) so I thought I might as well give this a try. They have a great tradition.”
Peterson is hoping to be cleared to play by this summer and he’d like to participate in football drills as early as August for the Tommies.
Wolf caught 44 passes for 757 yards and eight touchdowns this past season for BP. He also felt his competitive fire grow for football this fall.
“After our loss to BOLD this fall (in the state semifinals), it really hit me hard and I didn’t realize how much I had liked if,” Wolf said. “I just wanted to continue playing football in college.”
Wolf said he was drawn to UWRF because of its facilities and he’s excited about the school’s agriculture program.
“It’s kind of a win-win,” Wolf said. “I get to go into the field that I want and also I get to play football in the process.”
UST is located in St. Paul and the Tommies were 8-2 overall last season. UWRF was 3-7 overall.
