Packers put big performances at state swim meet

The Packers had some big time finishes at the Minnesota Class A State Swimming and Diving Meet at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis Saturday.

Logan Kelly broke two of his own school records as he took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley. Kelly, a sophomore, finished with a time of 56.09 seconds in the 100-breaststroke, but he couldn’t keep up with Minnehaha Academy sophomore Andrew Karpenko, who set a new state record with a time of 54.41 seconds.

Rafe Dolan Peterson took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke, where he broke his own school record with a time of 52.71 seconds, and he also took fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Austin 200-yard medley relay team of Trey Myers, Kelly, Dolan Peterson and Aaron Knoll took fourth and the same group of swimmers took fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Riley Norton took ninth in diving.

Austin finished in sixth place as a team with 128 points. Breck/Blake won the meet with a score of 423.
