Semi tips over in Lyle Township; Driver taken to hospital

A Tennessee man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the semi he was driving went into the ditch on Friday.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, a 2017 Freightliner semi with trailer was traveling southbound on Highway 218 when it went off the road at about 10:14 a.m. on Friday near milepost 5 in Lyle Township. The semi went into the ditch on the west side of the road and tipped over onto its side.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Mower County Sheriff’s Office and Gold Cross Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
The semi’s driver, Jamal M. Salem, 56, of Jackson, Tennessee, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries.
It is unknown what caused the accident; however, alcohol was not a factor.
