Get to Know: Austin’s Abby Lewis

Abby Lewis is a senior on the Austin track and field team team. Lewis competed in her fifth straight state cross country meet this past fall and she played on the state qualifying Packer basketball team this winter.
Q: What sports do you compete in?
A: I compete in cross country, basketball and track.
Q: How did you originally get into running?
A: I originally got into running when I was in fifth grade and I ran the Darren Dash half marathon.
Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?
A:Making it to state this year in basketball.
Q: What have you learned from sports?
A: I have learned the importance of having a positive mindset, and through hard work and perseverance you can accomplish anything.
Q: What is the hardest part about sports?
A: The hardest part about sports is balancing everything, from injury prevention to sleep and school.
Q: How do you keep your focus when competing?
A: I keep my focus by listening to music, staying positive, and mental preparation before every race or game.
Q: Who is your biggest sports role model and why?
A: My biggest sports role model is (long distance runner) Alexi Pappas.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: “Friends.”
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: Math.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Sports physical therapist.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Pancakes or any breakfast food.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: My plans after high school are to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and run cross country and track.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you or hobby you enjoy most people don’t know about?
A: I like to rollerblade.
Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be?
A: To fly.
