Mildred Zillgitt, 96

Mildred “Millie” Zillgitt, 96, of Adams, Minnesota, died of natural causes on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at the Adams Health Care Center.
Mildred Jane Finley was born on May 9, 1922, in Jordan Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota, to Walter and Winifred (Markham) Finley. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools. Millie was married on May 9, 1940, to Lloyd Ferguson. They had five children and lived in Fillmore County. They were later divorced. Millie was married on Feb. 23, 1957, to Orrin Zillgitt. After their marriage, the couple lived in many locations including Rochester, Minnesota, Stewartville, Minnesota, Dexter, Minnesota, and LeRoy, Minnesota. They had two sons. Millie was a homemaker and was employed as a housekeeper in Rochester and an assembly worker at Lake Center Industries in Stewartville. Orrin and Millie attended Methodist churches in Rochester, Dexter and Stewartville. In 1990, the couple moved to LeRoy. Mr. Zillgitt died on May 3, 2002. In August of 2003, Millie married Robert Greene and they made their home in LeRoy. Mr. Greene died on Feb. 14, 2011. Millie moved to the Cedar Court Apartments in Adams and lived in her apartment until her death. She was an avid horsewoman and enjoyed riding with family and friends and the Rochester Saddle Club. She was a great cook, enjoyed gardening, bird watching, playing cards and conversations with friends and family. She looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and loved spending time with and holding her new great-grandbabies.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Ferguson–Stiles of Dallas, Texas; four sons, Dale (Kathy) Ferguson of Gulfport, Mississippi, Max Ferguson (Nancy Kantor) of Chatfield, Minnesota, Rick (Colette) Zillgitt of Dexter and Terry (Deb) Zillgitt of Mason City, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kay (Dave) Powell of Las Vegas, Nevada and Iva Smith of Plainview, Minnesota; and two brothers, Howard Finley of Stewartville and Albert Finley of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husbands; infant daughter, Lucille; daughter, Marilyn Harfield; son, Melvin Ferguson; her parents; three sisters; and seven brothers.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Stewartville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville following the service.
