A woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a Thursday morning accident on Highway 218 in Austin Township.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, a 1995 Peterbuilt semi was southbound on Highway 218 at about 8:02 a.m. when it was struck on the side by a 2013 Ford Taurus that had pulled out into the road after being stopped at a stop sign on County Road 4.

The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and the Austin Fire Department all responded to the scene.

The driver of the Taurus, April Christine Olson, 45, of Albert Lea was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi, Jared Joseph Knutson, 29, of Hartland was uninjured.

The report indicated that both drivers were wearing seatbelts and that alcohol was not a factor.
