Best Bets: Memorial Day Weekend racing action

Chateau Speedway in Lansing will have two opportunities for you to see some racing action this weekend.

The Toots Trucking IMCA Shootout on Friday will feature IMCA Stock Cars making their return to Lansing for the first time since 2013. The Stock Cars will be joined by most of the regular classes running for Track Points towards their season championships.

The USRA B Mods, WISSOTA Midwest Mods, WISSOTA Street Stocks and WISSOTA Pure Stocks will all be running for track points, while the IMCA cars will be running for their national points.

The first green flag will be at 7:15 p.m. Friday. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for 5 and under. Pit passes are $25.

Chateau Speedway will hold the inaugural Spirit of 83 Memorial event, a continuation of the annual Mike Guttormson Memorial, which has been held since 1998 in honor of late racer Mike Guttormson, who passed away after winning the final feature of his career at his home track. The event was renamed in honor of all drivers and pit crew members who have lost their lives.

There will be an increased purse of $1,600 for A Mod winners as well as a new trophy.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Sunday with hot laps at 5L30 p.m. Racing will begin at 6 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for 5 and under. Pit passes are $30.
