Our opinion: Thank a teacher for everything they do

Teachers are the heroes we deserve right now.

This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week and as the school year begins to tick down toward summer vacation, it’s important to take the time and recognize that while it’s nice a week is dedicated to observing all that teachers do, it should serve as a reminder to acknowledge the sacrifices instructors make all year long.

Teachers are on the front line when it comes to preparing young minds for the world they are growing into. There are hours upon hours dedicated to their profession and it’s all to help make the world a better place through the education of the students that come through their classroom.

Their task is monumental as teachers and all those in education are confronting an ever-changing environment in which they practice their craft, yet still put their best foot forward so students are prepared to make the best of their own future.

You may have a student going into kindergarten or you might have a student walking across the stage to receive their diploma.

Either way, as you watch your child succeed with pride, recognize that along the way they were helped and supported by a person dedicated to making sure your child is as prepared as they can be through long hours and plenty of grading.

Teachers are a cornerstone in our world, and it should not be taken for granted what teachers from Woodson Kindergarten Center all the way through Riverland Community College and everything in between, put into each school year so that others can better achieve all the success we see at the end.
