Rose Creek residents injured in three-car accident

Two Rose Creek residents received non-life threatening injuries in a Sunday morning accident in Steele County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, a 2010 Toyota Corolla was driving northbound on Highway 218 at about 9:57 a.m. on Sunday when it slowed to make a left turn into a private drive just north of Blooming Prairie. As it turned, the Corolla was struck by a 2017 Cadillac XT5, causing it to rotate and sideswipe a 2012 Ford F150 that was driving behind it.
The Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Blooming Prairie Fire and Rescue and Mayo Clinic Ambulance responded to the scene.
The Cadillac’s occupants, Joseph Bernard Schammel, 86, and Irene Elizabeth Schammel, 87, both of Rose Creek, were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries.
The occupants of the other vehicles were uninjured.
