Abraham Dario Cervantes-Paz, 20, of Austin was charged with felony second-degree assault-dangerous weapon, felony terroristic threats and misdemeanor domestic assault on Monday in Mower County District Court.

According to the court complaint, officers were dispatched at 4:08 p.m. on Friday on a report of a domestic assault in the 1400 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest. Upon arrival they found Cervantes-Paz being restrained by several people.

The victim, a male relative, said Cervantes-Paz was upset because he would not let him use his vehicle because Cervantes-Paz did not have a license. When they went inside to talk in the kitchen, the victim alleged Cervantes-Paz grabbed him. The two slipped on the wet floor and Cervantes-Paz punched and scratched the victim in the face, telling him he was going to kill him.

The victim also told police Cervantes-Paz hit him several times in the back of the head with a saucepan from the counter. The victim was eventually able to get on top of Cervantes-Paz and restrain him with the assistance of the other people.

Cervantes-Paz told police he was angry that he was not allowed to use the car, but said the fight was a blur and he did not remember who threw the first punch.

Cervantes-Paz will appear in court again on July 1.
