2-vehicle accident sends one to hospital

An Austin woman was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon.
According to Austin Police Capt. Todd Clennon, a two-vehicle accident was reported at about 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of First Street and Fourth Avenue Northwest. A Chevy Blazer heading northbound on First Street Northwest failed to yield while turning left onto Fourth Avenue Northwest, colliding with a Toyota Highlander in the middle of the intersection.
Austin Police, Austin Fire and Mayo Ambulance all responded to the scene.
The Toyota’s driver, Ajuda Ogula, 34, of Austin was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin with non-life threatening injuries, Clennon said. The Chevy’s driver, Johanna Shamp, 18, of Austin was treated at the scene and released.
Both vehicles were totaled, according to Clennon.
The accident report did not indicate if any citations were issued.
