Steven Russell Wohlfeil, 69

Steven Russell Wohlfeil, 69, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away after a 10-month battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, with his loving wife and daughter at his side in their home.
Steven was born June 24, 1950, in Faribault, Minnesota, the youngest child of Calvin and Janet (Jennie) (Barsness) Wohlfeil. He graduated from Austin High School in 1968. Steve married the love of his life, Kathy Fangmeier, on Aug. 26, 1972, in Osage, Iowa. Steve and Kathy resided in Austin. Steve was employed by Crenlo in Rochester, Minnesota, for 37 years, retiring in 2013. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball and bowling. He was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gophers. He loved to watch his two grandsons play football and baseball. Steve and Kathy enjoyed spent many summers on Cedar Lake in Faribault.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Jennie (Matt) Esplan of Austin; grandsons, Sam and Gavin Esplan; sisters, Barb (Ron) Schmit and Karen (Bob) Peterson, both of Austin; aunt, Helen (Forest) Higgins of Rochester; mother-in-law, Georgia Fangmeier of Osage; sisters-in-law, Linda (Howard) Majerus and Carla (Jay) Dennis; brothers-in-law Bruce Fangmeier and Brian (Jennifer) Fangmeier; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Steve generously donated his body to Mayo Clinic for study and research.
A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at the Eagles Club in Austin.
