Arletta M. Bungum, 88

Arletta was born July 23, 1931, in Sargeant to Theodore and Marvel (Stayner) Knutson. On Feb. 14, 1948, Arletta married Victor Bungum and they had nine children together. Arletta began her career outside the home by working for Semcac in Dodge County. She then worked as a ward clerk for Olmsted Medical Center and later at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Always wanting to help others and make them feel good about themselves, Arletta chose to attend beauty school and worked as a licensed cosmetologist for many years. Arletta ended her professional experience as an employment and training coordinator for Experience Works in Fillmore, Olmsted and Mower Counties.

After her retirement, Arletta continued to work as a cosmetologist. She enjoyed her position as an A.F.S. student family liaison coordinator. Arletta was a devoted Christian, singing in the church choir as well as teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed singing with the Harmonettes. She was a history buff, enjoyed canning, and rooting for the Minnesota Twins and Gophers. Arletta was well known for her homemade bread and buns. She loved keeping busy and was very civic minded, which led her to being active on the Sargeant City Council for many years. She was strong willed, independent, always working for others, and had a heart of gold. She was resilient, generous and nurturing. Arletta’s children and grandchildren were her number one job and her church family was an important part of her life as well. She will be greatly missed.
