Best Bets: Max Weinberg’s Jukebox playing Schindler Celebration
Published 8:06 am Thursday, August 22, 2019
Max Weinberg’s Jukebox will take the stage of the Paramount Theatre for the fifth annual Schindler Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 24. The 7 p.m. concert is the centerpiece of the Austin ArtWorks Festival.
Max Weinberg is an American drummer and television personality, most widely known as the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and as the bandleader for Conan O’Brien on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.”
“It’s not a concert, it’s a party,” Weinberg told the Albany, New York, Times Union in January. The Max Weinberg Jukebox concept has the audience collaboratively make the set list by calling out titles from a scrolling song list of over 300 songs, resulting in an interactive, energetic music party.
“These are the songs that I listened to as a kid,” Weinberg said. “Everything from the Beatles to the Stones to the English invasion and the Beach Boys.”
The reserved seating show is sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System to celebrate the life of family physician Dr. Dick Schindler, who practiced medicine for over 40 years and passed away in 2014.
With sponsorship support from Mayo Clinic Health System, tickets to the show are priced at $25 advance and $30 the day of the show. Other venues offer tickets at $50-$100.
Tickets are available at austinareaarts.org. For more information, call 507-434-0934.
