Every August, members of Congress — our United States senators and representatives who work in Washington, D.C. — return to their home districts across Minnesota to connect with community members and learn about issues impacting their lives.

You can find out which member represents you by using this district finder tool at house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative. An interactive map of Congressional districts is available at govtrack.us/congress/members/map. You can also find a list of contact information for all of Minnesota’s members of Congress. It is available at bit.ly/33rC66n.

Connecting and building a relationship with these members is critical to help them understand issues of importance to and for Minnesotans with disabilities and their family members. Whether you advocate for Medicaid (also called Medical Assistance or MA in Minnesota), Supplemental Security Income, food assistance, affordable housing, or more, our members of Congress need to hear about the programs and services that support people with disabilities to live and work as independently as possible. It’s up to all of us to make sure our members of Congress respect disability rights as human rights and to hold them accountable when making decisions that impact Minnesotans with disabilities, so be sure to take advantage of their time here at home during the August Recess and share your stories!
