Hy-Vee, Inc. investigating security incident

Hy-Vee, Inc. is currently investigation into what it’s calling a security incident.

In a press release issued by the company, Hy-Vee is investigating an incident with it’s payment processing systems, focusing on transactions at some Hy-Vee fuel pumps, drive-thru coffee shops and restaurants. These include Market Grilles, Market Grille Expresses and the Wahlburgers locations that Hy-Vee owns and operates.

The move comes after unauthorized activity was detected on some of its payment processing systems.

According to the press release they started working with cybersecurity firms as well as notifying federal law enforcement and payment card networks.

In the press release, Hy-Vee said it believes it has stopped the unauthorized activity. Store aspects including grocery, drugstores and conveniences stores have different point-of-sale systems and are not thought to be involved. These store aspects include front-end checkout lanes, pharmacies, customer service counters, wine and spirits locations, floral departments, clinics and all other food service areas. Aisles Online is also thought to not have been affected.

Hy-Vee has no further details to release as the investigation is still in the early stages. Customers are encouraged to closely monitor payment card statements for any unauthorized activity.
