Off to the state fair

This is the last call to join us for the Minnesota State Fair on Monday.
We will depart from Walmart at 7 a.m., on a deluxe motorcoach and return at around 6 p.m.
All your favorite food items will be there, with many on a stick. It’s also one of two Senior Days. Carts can be rented if you prefer to ride around the grounds.
Call us at 507-438-3946 and leave a message. Our trips are open to the public. Cost for the coach and gate admission is $50 for members of the Mower County Senior Center and $53 for non-members.
Mystery Trip
Our annual Mystery Trip is always popular. This year our destination was the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska, voted for the second time in three years as the best from a list of 10 Best Botanical Gardens in the country. It encompasses 1,200 acres of natural area, public gardens and tree plantings. The flowers were in full color and display.
An hour-long, narrated carriage tram ride took us over the top of horticultural field laboratories. This is an absolutely wonderful place to visit in any season and for all ages.
A delicious picnic type lunch was served in a flower pot. This also included a packet of seeds to plant when we returned home.
Our second stop was Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store located near Jordan. It was a very nostalgic visit as we remembered all the candies available to us that are now hard to find. Barbecue sauces and pickled items, freshly baked pies, popcorn, and many kinds of soda were also available.
A dessert stop at an apple orchard gave us a choice of fresh homemade pie before we made our way back to Austin.
