Pet Supplies Plus, located in the old Hy-Vee building, is expected to open its doors with a soft opening at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, according to Victor Baeten, vice president of Slaby and Associates, who owns the building.

Pet Supplies Plus is the fourth store located in the old Hy-Vee to announce an opening date. Shoe Sensation is now open, while Maurices and Five Below look to open on Aug. 22 and Aug. 30, respectively.

The fifth store, Marshalls, has yet to announce an opening date.

Baeten said that live animals will not be available for sale until Friday, Sept. 13, as will feeders such as crickets, worms, fish and frozen mice.

A grand opening will be held on the weekend of Oct. 5-6. The event will feature free nail trims and pet washing among other to be determined activities.

Aside from selling pet supplies, the store will also offer services such as dog washing, grooming and a pet care wellness center.

Pet Supplies Plus business hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. They can be reached at 507-460-7700.
