The Austin Post 91 Legion baseball team had its season come to an end when it went hitless as in a 1-0 loss to Tri City Red and it fell 2-1 to the Minneapolis/SW Lakers in an elimination game at the Division 1 State Legion Baseball Tournament in Paynesville Thursday.
Tri City Red loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first inning of the opening game, but Austin pitcher Josi Bothun was able to avoid a big inning by escaping the jam while allowing just one run.
Bothun scattered four hits and he struck out six in six innings as he took the loss.
Bothun had Austin’s lone RBI on the day against the Lakers and Michael O’Connor struck out seven in six innings, while allowing three hits in that loss.
Tony Ciola had two hits and Dawson Mills had one hit.
