Randy David Sershen, 62

Randy David Sershen, 62, of Minneota, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, in his home after a long battle with COPD.
Randy was born Sept. 26, 1956, to Jackie and Helen Sershen in Austin, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from high school in Austin. Randy went on to college and obtained a business degree. Soon after, various car dealers employed him. Randy later became his own boss as owner of RJ Motorsports in Albert Lea, Minnesota. On May 2, 2015, Randy was united in marriage to Cindy Esping, and the two resided in Minneota.
Randy spent many hours at Lake Winnibigoshish in northern Minnesota. He had a passion for fishing and enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Minnesota Wild. Randy was known to be an exceptional cook and always enjoyed making something new. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially surprising his grandkids with a water balloon fight.
Randy is survived by his wife, Cindy of Minneota; his son, James of Northfield, Minnesota; stepchildren, Nick Esping (Nicky) of Minneota and Kayla Kimpe (Jason) of Tyler, Minnesota; mother-in-law, Marilyn Esping (Bob) of Minneota; brothers, Mike Sershen (Connie) of Delano, Minnesota, and Dennis Sershen (Linda) of the Twin Cities; brothers-in-law, Rick Esping of Phoenix, Arizona, Mark Esping of Ghent, Minnesota, and David Esping (Jackie) of Porter, Minnesota; uncle, Sy Schaefer of Austin; and grandkids, Lydia, Kendyle, Landon, Leah, Logan, Laney and Jaydin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 15, 2019, at VFW Post 1216 in Austin.
