Helen A. King, 93

Helen A. King, 93, of Adams, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at the Adams Health Care Center.
Helen was born May 23, 1926, in Rudyard, Michigan, to Ferdinand and Margaret (Boncher) Mahl. She graduated from Loretto High School in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, in 1943 and attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1947. She accepted a teaching position in Adams, where she met Wilfred King. They were married July 12, 1949, celebrating 61 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Helen was very involved in her community, often serving as a volunteer, a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart Catholic School, and teaching piano lessons in her home, oftentimes as many as 45 students a week. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she provided beautiful music for Masses and church activities for 65 years as the church organist. In her spare time, she loved to play cards, read and spend time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; daughter, Anne Marie; and son, Donald Robert. She is survived by her children, Martin (Peggy) King, Blaine, Minnesota, Mary (David) Schmeling, Blaine, and Leo King, Sacramento, California; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic School.
