Hildegarde M. Golden, 103, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019, at Sacred Heart Care Center.
Hildegarde was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Auburn Township, Fayette County, Iowa, to Anthony and Christine (Duclos) Huinker. She came to Austin at an early age and worked at the Hormel plant until marrying Charles F. Golden on March 26, 1938. She and Charles lived on the Hormel Estate until 1956. Hildegarde was an excellent seamstress and often made clothing for Mrs. Jay C. Hormel. She had a business sewing drapes for many years. Hildegarde volunteered whenever she could at Queen of Angels Church and was a Pink Lady at St. Olaf Hospital. She loved games and cards of any kind and was an accomplished bridge player, the card game she loved most of all. In her later years, Hildegarde enjoyed playing cards and doing picture puzzles at the care center. Hildegarde always had a smile for everyone. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son, Tom (Marjorie) Golden, Henderson, Nevada; daughter, Kathryn Krull, Austin; sister, Rosemary Cook, Rochester, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Josh, Austin, Judd, Germany, and Heidi, Rochester; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; five brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, John Krull.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Raul Silva officiating. Friends may call one hour before the Mass on Wednesday at the church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
