On Sept. 30, President Donald Trump signed into law the Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education, and Support (CARES) Act of 2019 (H.R.1058).

LIFE Mower County supports this bill to reauthorize the Autism CARES Act, which funds critical autism research, surveillance, and education programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

This reauthorization includes a greater focus on the needs of people with autism and other developmental disabilities across the lifespan. It also increases the minimum number of self-advocates on the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC). The law was reauthorized for five years.

LIFE Mower County staff must be willing and ready to guide participants on day-trips, lead art and craft projects, instruct various classes, and coach our Special Olympics teams.

This is a part time position. All applicants must have night and weekend availability. Candidates should have a genuine interest and enthusiasm in providing recreation opportunities for people with varying ability levels. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated with great organizational and communication skills. Experience in working with people with disabilities is preferred.
