More than $800,000 in scholarships were awarded through the Stout University Foundation, with more than 400 University of Wisconsin-Stout students being named recipients.
Scholarships valued at more than $812,000 were awarded to 418 UW-Stout students this year through the college’s foundation. The students received their awards during a scholarship reception on campus Thursday, Sept. 12.
One of the scholarship recipients was Joshua Belden, a hotel, restaurant and tourism management major and an Austin native, who was awarded the Philip H. McGuirk Freshmen Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Scholarship.
Established in 1963, the scholarship program helped more than 10,068 students receive a college education. Through the financial support from alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends of the university, the program awarded more than $13.9 million throughout the years.
UW-Stout is Wisconsin’s Polytechnic University that focuses on applied learning, collaboration with business and industry and career outcomes.
