Albert L. Landherr, 87, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at his VA medical foster home in North St. Paul, Minnesota.

Albert was born to John and Margaret (Majerus) Landherr on Jan. 8, 1932, near Rose Creek, Minnesota. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, serving in the Korean War on the U.S.S. Princeton.

On May 20, 1957, he was joined in marriage to Evelyn Hemann at Sacred Heart Church in Meyer, Iowa.

Albert was employed by Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa, for 29 years. He was a lifetime member of the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31, where he served as commander. When he moved to Austin, he joined the VFW, where he also served as commander. He also loved to call Bingo at the VFW, as well as help with meals and their Voice of Democracy program.

He enjoyed camping with his wife and grandchildren, taking care of his large garden and watching the VFW boy’s ball team play. In the wintertime, he enjoyed blowing snow for his friends and neighbors.

Albert is survived by his two children, Steven, Austin, and Lori (Don) Boesen, Owatonna, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Amber Boesen (Edward Simmons), Jacksonville, Florida, and Alisa Stuckey (Marc Fatigati), Asheville, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Linda Landherr, Rose Creek, and Sally Michels, Austin; and brother-in-law, Clem Hemann, Osage, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; his parents; a brother and sister; five brothers-in-law; and six sisters-in-law.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call for two hours prior to the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by Adams American Legion Post 146.
